Reproducing Trees
Still thinking about trees and water and came across this pasage from Isaiah:
For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. (Isaiah 44:3-4)
What a great promise. Our natural and spiritual children - those we lead to the Lord and/or disciple in God’s ways - will know the gift and abundant blessing of the Spirit. It reminded me of a promise God spoke to me some years ago and that I am continually seeing fulfilled:
‘your sons in their youth will be like well-watered plants’ (Ps.144:12- from the Slightly Altered Version!)
God has shown me again and again the importance of helping those I disciple to know, love and be led by the Holy Spirit. It is important for them to be well-grounded on the Word of God but also for them to be well-watered by the Holy Spirit who inspired the Word. You can understand the Word better when you kno the language of the one who wrote it! It is a great joy to see young men and women who are strong in both the Word and Spirit.
Let’s all of us look to God for such offspring!
