Book Review: The Powers That Be

0385487525.01._bo2204203200_pisitbdp500arrowtopright4564_aa240_sh20_sclzzzzzzz_1This book I have just read is a kind of precis of a trilogy of books that Walter Wink (great name!) wrote in the 80s and early 90s, concerning ‘Principalities and Powers’ and I had heard that he had some interesting insights on it. I was actually a little disappointed as it was more about Wink’s pacifist ideology, but still it was an interesting read. 

Wink is very liberal in his theology and I certainly wouldn’t recommend him for someone young …

There are no doubt a complex of reasons and causes for such rioting, and simplistic responses aren’t helpful. But surely the kinds of societies that we are producing in the Western world (in US as well as Western Europe) has something to do with it.

50433658_5feb4776db_m1Hope everyone had a great Bonfire weekend. This is a photo of fireworks from one of Huddersfield’s most well-known sites - Castle Hill. Brilliant, isn’t it?

We had a great time in our gathering on Sunday morning here in Huddersfield, with testimonies of healing, miraculous financial provision and salvation, and a baptism with lots of guests hearing the gospel. We also had 5 people respond to an appeal to commit their lives to Jesus! Hallelujah!
