Back from London
I’m back from my journey down to London to appear on Revelation TV. The studios were round the corner from Euston Station and just beneath the BT Tower (pictured). I had a great time. It was a fascinating experience going on live TV, trying to be conscious of an audience that you can’t see - but not too conscious of them that you become intimidated. The idea was for me just to chat to my uncle (the interviewer) as if it was just the two of us in his front room. I’ve not been able to see if I did OK as, although someone recorded it for me, I can’t yet get the DVD to work!! My wife, Alison, said I am better looking on TV than I am in real life!! I am still working out whether that’s a complement or an insult!
Anyway, on the journey down on the train I went past the massive
black cloud coming out of the oil depot in Hemel Hemstead. It was amazing - the biggest fire in peacetime Europe! Thank God no-one was killed. Although it looks like this was just a very unfortunate accident, the cloud seems to me to be a kind of a metaphor for what we are doing to our environment, through our reliance on burning fossil fules for energy. I suspect I will have more to say on the Environment on this blog in the months to come as I think it is a massive issue for our world, and as stewards of God’s creation, we Christians need to have an influential voice on it.

Hoping to pick up your autograph at the Bible Week, Trev!
I think Christians generally only show green attitudes if they’ve grown up with them - born in the mid-1960s and after. Christians tend to reflect the society they grow up in, whereas doctrine would urge them to change it.
By the way, Alison would be giving a ‘compliment’, not a ‘complement’. What happened to that 1st class English degree!! all the best.
