Exploring Our Inheritance

I like this verse I came across in reading Genesis recently. God exhorts Abraham to take a walk and explore the land that he was giving to him:

Take a walk in every direction and explore the new possessions I am giving you (Gen.13:17)

We need to do the same with our spiritual land - the inheritance that we have in Christ. For too many Christians it goes undiscovered, let alone unexplored! Part of reading the Bible, should be to discover, survey, explore, understand, appreciate and experience all the wonderful blessings we have through being in Christ. This is our promised land - let’s take a good look at the wonderful richness of its landscape, not just admiring it from a distance but getting in there to enjoy it!!

More about this tomorrow as I tell you more about the Bible Tour Blog that I have planned.

That is a great verse! I remember that Bryn Jones said, ‘maturing is not growing up conservativly, it is growing up adventurously!’ And you get a sense of God sending Abraham on a bit of adventure. ‘Go in every direction, and explore…!’ God is adventurous, and desires for each of us to ‘explore’ our possesions in Christ, and to ‘explore’ new kingdom possibilities! Great post Trevor! Keep it coming! -Chris Negron, USA

    Hi Trevor
I read this and Chris’s comment and I know you are refering to the gift of the bible but I side tracked and started looking at the gift of our human spirit in comparison to the Holy Spirit.

This lead me to contemplate what God wants us to be compared to what we are .The question arose in me… are we willing to look at our spiritual land and gifts and to explore what stops us growing and to then take steps to breakout and cross boundries..its a huge land to explore! :)

    warm regards Helen Holt
