Back From My Mystery Weekend
Thank you for all your kind comments on the announcment of the passing of the milestone of my fortieth birthday. I had an absolutley fantastic weekend. Alison surprised me by taking me down to London. We stayed in a posh hotel and did ‘London things’ during the day on Saturday including a very enjoyable but brief visit to the National Gallery (I would certainly recommend it - my favourties were Turner and Hogarth, and Ali and I both loved one by Jospeh Wright which you can view here). The highlight though was going to see Les Miserables in the West End - it was brilliant. I am not usually good at theatre-going but this had me mesmersied throughout. If you’ve not seen it visit the website here. After breakfast and a swim at the hotel the following morning, we set off home where Ali had also arranged a surprise party with folks from the church - what a wonderful wife I have, and what a great way to start my forties!
Back to work now, though. And I hope later today to give a few more thoughts on the Law (believe it or not, watching Les Miserables got me thinking about it again - I’ll explain why later) and respond to some of the comments - especially those from Doug; thanks Doug, you’re really keeping me thinking!
My favourite card was from Ali. It said:
"Even at your age, you’re still cool - it’s just not so obvious!"

Les Mis rocks! I sat and watched the DVD with my daughter Connie (7) for the first time this weekend - she was converted and now wants to go and see it at the theatre. This will please her Gramps no end as now he will have a regular excuse to go and see it again and again. It is one of the most powerful uses of music I have ever experienced.
I must get my wife to get some tips from Alison on the 40th birthday thing - though she still has 4 years to plan it!

Les Mis is the Bizz. I cried several times in it. Wonderful story and a superb show. Well done Alison.
