college_class_400I’m off down to Cardiff today to be ready to teach the students at School of the Word, the ministry training course of our related churches. Find out more about it here. This is a photo of the happy bunch of students taken when I was with them last November. Let’s hope that they are looking quite as happy after I’ve finished lecturing on Worldviews and World Religions!!

Responding to Questions on the Law

Posted: Tuesday, January 17th, 2006 @ 10:31 pm in Personal News, Theological Thoughts | 1 Comment »

I’ve appreciated the responses that people made about the whole question of the Law.There have been a lot of thought-provoking questions and comments. I’d like to respond briefly to one made by Doug on my posting left on 12 Jan. He made a very valid and important point about not categorising and labelling people and stereotyping groups and movements such as reconstructionism. I think that is a good and timely reminder. I appreciate it, Doug

Equally I would say that in my concern about certain understandings among Christians about the role of …

picadilly_west_endThank you for all your kind comments on the announcment of the passing of the milestone of my fortieth birthday. I had an absolutley fantastic weekend. As this debate about the role of the Law has continued, I am aware that there may be some people listening in who haven’t come across some of the terms referred to. In explaining them I don’t want to be patronising, but I do want to be as accessible and inclusive as possible.

Theocracy literally means ‘government by God.’ Theonomy means ‘laws of God.’ It seems to be that a theonomist believes that all the laws given to Moses are universal and for all people everywhere and should be applied quite …

Continuing the Debate On Law

Posted: Wednesday, January 11th, 2006 @ 8:40 am in Theological Thoughts | 4 Comments »

moses_and_10_commandmentsI would love to write down my extended argument about the Law now, but I want to make it as thorough as possible and I go down to the College next week to teach on Worldviews and World Religions and so the preparation for that must take priority. I will aim to do it in two weeks time, for those who are interested.

To respond to Roger’s helpful comment, I think of the Mosaic Law as all the …
