More on Jim Wallis

After making my posting about Jim Wallis yesterday, It was pointed out to me he was on the radio that afternoon, being interviewed by Simon Mayo on Radio Five Live. I’m not sure if they’ll put it on the Listen Again on the web, but if they do, I recommend it. He came across as clearly evangelical, with a genuine desire to apply biblical faith to real, pressing social and global issues like poverty and the Iraq war. He sounded humane, intelligent, warm, bold and real, a man of integrity and serious reflection. This is a man who talks with Presidents and Prime Ministers, is a friend of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu, has written a book that is on the New York Times best-seller lists, but speaks warmly of going home to the same poor neighbourhood, in Washington D.C., that he has lived in for years and where every Friday night he coaches at the local elementary school. You may not agree with all he says, but this is a man worth listening to.
