john_donneI posted something about Norman Kember’s release last week and I noticed that there has been a debate about it on Roger Aubrey’s blog. So if people are still interested about that there is an interesting article about it a LICC this week.

But I felt it had been too long since I had posted a poem on my blog. I get far too little times …

Arthur Wallis on Prayer

Iprayer have recently just picked up again the book ‘Pray in the Spirit’ by Arthur Wallis, as I believe God has been calling myself and the church I lead to newer and greater dimensions of prayer. I have found this a helpful book in the past though I feel I have learned barely half of it! Let me give you a taster from the beginning of his preface:

A man is no bigger than his prayer life, …

Don’t Tithe!!???

christianity_coverI was surprised last week to see the front cover of the primary mainstream Christian magazine in UK and read the title - Don’t Tithe! At first I thought it was going to refer to an ironic article that acually meant ‘Do Tithe’, but don’t do it out of legalism. Those who read my comments on the Channel 4 programme, The New Fundamentalists?, can read a very good official response from the Evangelical Alliance’s Head of Theology, David Hilborn, here.

But now for my last couple of points on sacrifice:

Messy - quite frankly, there would be blood, guts, fat and stuff all over the place! Especially when extravangantly slaughtering thousands of animals. If I’m right about the sacrifice every six steps when they brought the Ark to Jerusalem, those guys would have been … Continue reading A Last Word on Sacrifice...

Good News About Hostage Norman Kember

Posted: Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 @ 6:40 pm in Personal News, Current Affairs | 2 Comments »

norman_kemberPraise God for the surprise rescue and release of British Christian peace activist, Norman Kember, along with his two Canadian fellow-hostages. They were taken hostage in November and hope seemed to be running out for them after the murder of their fellow hostage, Tom Fox, a few weeks ago. I find myself thinking and praying for his family right now. But it is also terrific news aout the release of the other hostages. Their familes must be ecstatic! Norman Kember …

More on Sacrifice

Here are a couple of more points, briefly, about sacrifice. (I am looking into the possibility of providing a link to a download of the sermons - for Dave and anyone else who may be interested)

Passionate - many of the sacrifices were burnt offerings - offerings made with fire, an aroma pleasing to the Lord. Our praise and worship must be passionate. We’ve got to have fire in the belly, our expression of worship obviously being zealous and wholehearted. Who wants to listen to praise and prayer that’s wet, limp, apologetic dribble!Extravagant … Continue reading More on Sacrifice...
