Back From A Day Aside

westwood_centreSpent a great time away yesterday - over 10 hours - at Westwood Christian Centre - a wonderful place for a retreat that I can highly recommend, and just outside Huddersfield! I was able to gaze out regularly at the landscape here pictured, and to walk in it! It was not all quiet reflection though, but hard graft as I spent time praying about and planning for the next few years for the church here in Huddersfield.

It was good, on return, to read the helpful things that people had put in answer to my enquiry about ‘worship as sacrifice.’ It’s great and encouraging to be able to share insights together and to engage in corporate seeking of God for revelation. I will share some of my thoughts and insights on it next week, after I’ve preached some of it on Sunday. But for now let me leave you with a quote from Tommy Tenney:

The robes of the passionate are stained with the marks of bloody sacrifice!

I’ll leave you thinking on that until next week!

This quote reminded me of Isaiah 63:1
Who is this coming from Edom,
from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson?
Who is this, robed in splendor,
striding forward in the greatness of his strength?
“It is I, speaking in righteousness,
    mighty to save.”
What a passion! How wondrous and sobering that the same passion resides in us!!!
