Arthur Wallis on Prayer

have recently just picked up again the book ‘Pray in the Spirit’ by Arthur Wallis, as I believe God has been calling myself and the church I lead to newer and greater dimensions of prayer. I have found this a helpful book in the past though I feel I have learned barely half of it! Let me give you a taster from the beginning of his preface:
A man is no bigger than his prayer life, or as Murray M’Cheyne is reputed to have said, ‘What a man is on his knees before God, that he is - and nothing more.’ In that coming day when the hearts of men are revealed, a day which is now nearer than when we first believed, there will be some ‘big men’ who will appear very small, and some we had thought small will appear as spiritual giants. How different are spiritual values when God takes them from the balances of human judgement and weighs them on the balances of the sanctuary.

Wow that’s challenging Trevor! God’s been speaking to us in Manchester about prayer loads recently…. When I’ve read about revivals in different parts of the world the thing I noticed they had in common was that they were preceded by God’s people praying passionately.

Excellent Trevor - The life of prayer is so important and crucial for us all as individuals and for us as the people of God together in our respective locations. Prayer is the fuel that drives the engine of purpose in the house of God. As we wait on God, pray together and hear his voice - the Holy Spirit is poured out equipping, leading and directing us towards the Kingdom Actions that follow on from the life of prayer.
