Passionate Leaders - Bring Them On!
When Saul heard their words, the Spirit of God came upon him in power, and he burned with anger…….The the terror of the Lord fell on the people, and they turned out as one man. (1 Samuel 11:6,7)
Recently I was reading the story of one of the few times when King Saul got it right; when the Ammonites were threatening the men of Jabesh Gilead, God’s people, with forcing their surrender, and gouging out their right eyes. Saul got really mad - in the Spirit! He got so mad he chopped up a pair of oxen, sending out the pieces to all the tribes of Israel, threatening to do this to the oxen of any of them who refused to come to the aid of their brothers by following Saul and Samuel. They all turned out, in the fear of the Lord, as ‘one man.’ I don’t believe that they were just being intimidated by Saul going over the top in his motivational methods! This was ‘in the Spirit.’ There is a unity of God ’s people, a uniting behind God’s anointed leaders, to withstand the enemy and advance the Kingdom, that will only come when those leaders get bold, passionate, radical and extreme under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, assured of their authority as God’s leaders. And we need to get passionate in our anger against the enemy who trys to intimidate, oppress, enslave, damage and blind the people of God! Where are such leaders? Bring them on!!
